about
“To think critically should also mean to break away from the idea that there could be easy scapegoats for all the ills of the world. The world is way too complex for that, and we can only change it for the better if we understand how it works. We live in a society that is permeated by capital as the self-perpetuating ratio of the exploitation of everyone by everyone, as well as the implicit and explicit compulsion to arrange with this. Furthermore, patterns of nationalism, colonialism, racism, antisemitism, sexism, misogyny and hostility towards people who differ from what is perceived as “normal” in terms of gender identity, sexual orientation, or mental or bodily ability pervade our societies and influence the way we approach people. Each one of us makes their contribution to perpetuate or dismantle forms of oppression; each one of us can contribute to improving our coexistence.”
lyrics
Since your birth you've been tranquillized / Made ignorant and blooded into / Idolatry for moving pictures and twisted truth / Still you're living in your holes / Consuming what is thrown to you / You coat yourselves with opium stretched out with blood // Wake up, hibernating whore / You're capable of so much more / So take the torch, open your eyes, and search for the truth / There is not much to be lost / New gardens will open up for us / Once we devour the crops of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil // To search for truth means to accept iconoclasm / For what is thought to be certain must be deconstructed / The only way to gain true freedom is through heresy / Nothing is good just because it has always been // We can make the skies collapse / For the horizon has no limits / We can change the course of history / Be the change you want to see / Let this be your wake-up call / To spread your wings and fly // Tear apart all shrines and relics / Dismantle and burn down the temples / Dig into the ashes to see what lies beneath / Each and every book we question means a world to win / The Fall of Man is a decent price for being able to see clear // To search for truth means to accept iconoclasm / For what is thought to be certain must be deconstructed / The only way to gain true freedom is through heresy / Nothing is good just because it has always been that way // Yet from afar the dead hail as iconic figures / Although we know they could impossibly have done it right / Yet from afar the dead hail as beloved icons / Although we know they could have never done it right // Paper doesn't blush, neither do airwaves / So you better question what they try to say / You've got a mind of your own, feel free to use it / Discuss your beliefs, don't dig your heels // Question authorities – no gods, no masters / No one should dare to try to enslave the fucking universe / Question authorities – no gods, no masters / Open up your minds and think for yourselves // To search for truth means to accept iconoclasm / For what is thought to be certain must be deconstructed / The only way to gain true freedom is through heresy / Nothing is good just because it has always been that way
