Truthseeker sert-il à Brendan James Hayter et Alex Fewell, deux artistes versés dans le death metal, d'excursion éphémère hors du sentier ? Je pose cette question parce que ce projet n'a eu le droit qu'à deux sorties : Weightless at Dawn que nous avons ici et Blue Oblivion sorti la même année — et depuis, rien. C'est bien dommage au vu de toutes les qualités réunies dans ce petit E.P. : bien que taillées dans un post-rock assez lent à tendances doom metal, c'est d'une légèreté exceptionnelle !

Les splits sont des collaborations indirectes mais je place toujours instinctivement les artistes qui y figurent en situation de confrontation. Dans le cas de Of Ash and Dying Light, déterminer le meilleur entre Nachtterror et Altars of Grief est presque mission impossible tant leur black metal symphonique est exceptionnel : il est mélodique et ravissant chez le premier (ça me rendait même nostalgique de Mirrorthrone), plus épique et proche du doom metal chez le deuxième. Ça vaut un album !
